We love our volunteers!

Volunteer Opportunities
Our volunteers make a difference. They help us collect, preserve and share South Dakota’s stories. There are many volunteer opportunities for students, business professionals, newcomers, and retirees to use your talents in a variety of capacities to suit any interest or skill level.

By volunteering your time, you'll meet interesting people, have fun and help us tell the story of South Dakota while learning more about our state's colorful past. Volunteers must be 16 years of age or older. Most volunteers give of their time on a regularly scheduled basis. You might want to work one day a week, or several days a week. You might want to concentrate on one specific job, or volunteer in several areas. Our goal is to work with you.
